MONCTON, N.B. - Cameron Askew and Conor Garland were a lethal combination for the Moncton Wildcats on Thursday.

Both scored in the shootout as Moncton edged the rival Saint John Sea Dogs 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Askew had a power-play goal for the Wildcats (27-11-2) in the second period to make it 2-2, with Garland earning an assist on the play. Jacob Sweeney also scored, while Alex Dubeau made 29 saves and turned away two skaters in the shootout to earn the win.

Juraj Siska and Jason Bell replied for Saint John (23-12-6). Alex Bishop stopped 27 shots in net.

Moncton connected twice on its six power-play opportunities, while the Sea Dogs could not score on their three man advantages.

The Wildcats have won three straight to pull away from Saint John for the lead in the QMJHL's Martimes Division.

OCEANIC 5 HUSKIES 1

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Vincent Dunn had a pair of goals as Rimouski sailed by the Huskies.

Anthony DeLuca scored his 26th goal of the season and added two assists for the Oceanic (26-12-3). Samuel Morin and Michael Joly also found the back of the net as Rimouski had four unanswered goals in the third period.

Jeremy Auger was the lone scorer for Rouyn-Noranda (20-18-3).
