MONCTON, N.B. - Conor Garland did a little bit of everything on Friday night.

He scored a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Moncton Wildcats past the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 5-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Cameron Askew chipped in with a goal and three assists for the Wildcats (6-2-0), while Adam Holwell rounded out the attack.

Loik Leveille and Clark Bishop scored for Cape Breton (4-3-1). Pierre-Luc Dubois tacked on two assists.

Zachary Fortin turned aside 19 shots for the win in net. Kyle Jessiman suffered the loss after kicking out 21-of-26 shots in two periods of work. Alexandre Belanger stopped all eight shots he faced in relief.

Both teams combined for 112 penalty minutes.

Screaming Eagles forward Evgeny Svechnikov was ejected for checking from behind at 4:25 of the second period. Phelix Martineau was tossed at 17:29 of the third after a fight in the final five minutes of regulation and taking off one's helmet or attempting to pull of an opponent's helmet. Olivier LeBlanc received a game misconduct for checking from behind at 18:03 of the third.

Monton's Zack MacEwen received a game misconduct after a roughing and aggressor penalty at 12:57 on the third. Teammate Manuel Wiederer was ejected in the same stoppage for fighting after the original altercation. Garland was ejected at 17:29 of the third for a fight in the final five minutes of regulation. He had to be helped to the dressing room by trainers following the fight. The team provided no word on his condition. William Bower was assessed a game misconduct for boarding, an aggressor and instigator of a fight in the final five minutes of regulation at 18:03.

The Wildcats finished 1 for 8 on the power play while Cape Breton scored once on three chances.

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Mathieu Joseph had the shootout winner as the Sea Dogs edged Gatineau.

Daniel Del Paggio, Bonkondji Imama and Luke Green scored in regulation for Saint John (4-3-0).

Yan Pavel Laplante struck twice for the Olympiques (6-1-1), with Vitalii Abramov adding the other.

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Montreal Canadiens draft pick Daniel Audette had the winner and added two assists as the Phoenix rallied to beat Halifax.

Jeremy Roy, Jan Dufek and Guillaume Gauthier supplied the rest of the offence for Sherbrooke (3-3-1).

Maxime Fortier had a pair of goals for the Mooseheads (1-4-2) while Andrew Shewfelt also scored.

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Philippe Sanche scored the winner in the third period on the power play for the Armada as they edged Charlottetown.

Joel Teasdale also had a goal on the man advantage for Blainville-Boisbriand (3-3-1).

Alexandre Goulet had a power-play goal for the Islanders (5-3-0).

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Anthony Chapados, Tyler Boland and Samuel Laberge all scored in the third period as the Oceanic topped Baie-Comeau.

Hunter Moreau, Andrew Picco and Nicolas Werbik supplied the rest of the offence for Rimouski (5-1-0).

Raphael Santerre and Vaclav Karabacek chipped in for the Drakkar (1-6-0).

Baie-Comeau's Guillaume Beaudry received a game misconduct at 19:35 of the second period for an aggressor. Teammate Yan Aucoin was also ejected at 17:40 of the third for instigating a fight in the final five minutes of regulation.

The Oceanic's Nicolas Werbik was tossed for taking off his own helmet or attempting to pull off an opponent's helmet in a fight with Aucoin.

Shawinigan's Zachary Taylor received a match penalty for head-butting at 16:06 in the third period that resulted in a penalty shot. Popov failed to convert on the opportunity.
