HALIFAX - Dominic Talbot-Tassi scored a tiebreaking goal on a power play in the third period and the Moncton Wildcats held on for a 4-3 win over the Halifax Mooseheads in Game 3 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series on Tuesday.

Ivan Barbashev struck twice and tacked on an assist for the Wildcats, which trail the second-round series 2-1. Jacob Sweeney had a goal and two helpers and Talbot-Tassi added an assist for a two-point night.

Nikolaj Ehlers had three points with two goals and an assist for the Mooseheads, who host Game 4 on Wednesday. Danny Moynihan supplied the rest of the offence.

Alex Dubeau made 26 saves for the win. Eric Brassard stopped 18 shots in the losing effort.

Moncton was 3 for 4 on the power play. Halifax scored twice on five chances with the man advantage.

CHARLOTTETOWN — Jerome Verrier had two goals as Quebec pushed the Islanders to the brink of elimination with a Game-3 win in their second-round series.

Guillaume Gauthier, Matt Murphy, and Adam Erne also scored for the Remparts, who took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven set. Kurt Etchegary had two assists.

Daniel Sprong had both goals for the Islanders, who host Game 4 on Thursday.

GATINEAU, Que. — Christopher Clapperton scored two goals and assisted on another as Rimouski took a 2-1 lead in its second-round series versus the Olympiques.

Jan Kostalek had a goal and two helpers for the Oceanic and Anthony DeLuca and Michael Joly also scored. Alexis Loiseau chipped in with three assists.

Yan Pavel Laplante and Yakov Trenin scored for Gatineau, which hosts Game 4 on Wednesday.

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Maxime St-Cyr scored two goals as the Drakkar jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead over Val-d'Or.

Jeremy Gregoire, Jasmin Boutet and Frederic Gamelin had a goal and an assist apiece for Baie-Comeau, which can close out the series with a win at home on Wednesday. Nicolas Meloche rounded out the offence.

Anthony Richard, Anthony Beauregard and Nicolas Aube-Kubel supplied the attack for the Foreurs.
