MONCTON, N.B. - League-leading scorer Conor Garland scored twice in regulation and assisted on the winner as the Moncton Wildcats edged the visiting Halifax Mooseheads 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Garland's three-point outing gives him 29 goals and 104 points in 57 games played. He now holds a 14-point advantage over the second highest producer in the league, Danick Martel of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Ivan Barbashev scored the winner 3:56 into extra time for the Wildcats (38-16-3), who moved their win streak to four games. He also set up both of Garland's goals to match him with a three-point effort.

Timo Meier and Nikolaj Ehlers kept up their personal scoring streaks for the Mooseheads (27-23-5).

Meier scored both goals for his club to extend his point streak to 24 games. He now has 23 goals and 46 points during his stretch. And Ehlers's point streak hit the 30-game mark with helpers on each of Meier's goals. Ehlers has produced 24 goals and 68 points through his run.

Moncton's Alex Dubeau made 29 saves for the win as Kevin Resop turned aside 26-of-29 shots for Halifax.

The Wildcats went 2 for 4 on the power play while the Mooseheads converted once on three chances with the man advantage.

QUEBEC CITY — Nikolas Brouillard had a hat trick as the Remparts toppled Baie-Comeau and took over second place in the East Division.

Adam Erne, Jerome Verrier and Guillaume Gauthier also scored for Quebec (34-19-3), which now sits one point up on the Drakkar, and Callum Booth made 26 stops for the win.

Luca Ciampini had a pair of goals for the Baie-Comeau (31-19-8), which is on a four-game slide, while Maxime St-Cyr and Vaclav Karabacek each added a goal and an assist. Philippe Cadorette kicked out 18-of-23 shots in defeat.
