BASTAD, Sweden — Albert Ramos-Vinolas won his first career title after beating Fernando Verdasco 6-3, 6-4 in the Swedish Open final on Sunday.
Third-seeded Ramos-Vinolas broke his fellow Spaniard's serve early in the first set.
Fifth-seeded Verdasco, runner-up in 2013, hadn't lost a single set in the tournament but appeared nervous and made several mistakes.
"It feels fantastic to take my first title," said Ramos-Vinolas, who received the trophy from Swedish great Bjorn Borg. "I thought I'd never have a chance to win a tournament because I've played badly in the past three years. But I think I've played some great tennis this year."
