BALTIMORE - Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish had his start pushed back one day after rain delayed the start of Thursday night's game against the Orioles.

With the threat of more rain after a nearly one-hour delay, Rangers manager Ron Washington decided to use reliever Scott Baker against Baltimore and save Darvish until Friday night when Texas takes on the Mets in New York.

Baker started against Baltimore left-hander Wei-Yin Chen. In two previous starts this season, Baker went 0-1 with 6.00 ERA — allowing eight runs in 12 innings. In 177 games over nine years, Baker has made 164 starts.

Darvish (8-4) now might be eligible to pitch in the All-Star game, if selected, because he isn't expected to pitch on the Sunday before the break.
