When Milos Raonic meets Andy Murray on Friday for a trip to the Australian Open final in the balance, it will be only the seventh* meeting between the men.

Here’s a quick look at the history between Raonic, the first Canadian man to appear in the Aussie Open semis, and Murray, a four-time finalist:

1.2012 Barcelona Open (Quarterfinals) - #2 Andy Murray vs. #11 Milos Raonic – A clay court, tournament, Raonic used his cannon of a serve to get the better of the Brit, winning the aces battle, 14 to 3. Murray was only able to break the Thornhill, Ontario native for the first time in the 10th game of the second set. The win was the first of Raonic’s career against a player ranked in the world’s top eight. Raonic would go on to fall to David Ferrer in the semis.

WINNER: Raonic – 6-4, 7-6 (7-3)

2.2012 US Open (Round of 16) - #3 Andy Murray vs. #15 Milos Raonic – The first meeting between the pair at a Grand Slam event, Murray had little trouble dispatching Raonic and neutralizing his serve. Murray was fresh off an Olympic gold medal in London and was playing at a championship level. Raonic was guilty of self-sabotage here with six double-faults to Murray’s one. After beating Raonic, Murray’s dream summer would continue as the Scotsman would capture his first US Open title.

WINNER: Murray – 6-4, 6-4, 6-2

3.2012 Japan Open (Semi-Finals) - #1 Andy Murray vs. #6 Milos Raonic – In a gutsy performance, Raonic used two breaks to take the first set and staged an epic comeback – from 4-1 down – to win the fifth and deciding set. The fifth set rally came on the heels of saving match point earlier in the week against Janko Tipsarevic in the quarterfinals. The match was only Murray’s third defeat since Wimbledon in what was a terrific 2012 campaign for him. The final was the fourth reached by Raonic in 2012, but it would end in defeat to local favourite, Kei Nishikori.

WINNER: Raonic – 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-4)

4.2014 Indian Wells Masters (Round of 16) - #5 Andy Murray vs. #10 Milos Raonic – Following back surgery in the fall of 2013, Murray hit a rough patch in his comeback from injury and that continued in California. While the Brit started strong and took the first set, his renaissance would be short-lived. Raonic was able to break his opponent’s serve twice in the deciding set to take his third meeting in four against Murray. He would go out in the quarterfinals, though, falling in straight sets to Alexander Dolgopolov.

WINNER: Raonic – 4-6, 7-5, 6-3

5.2014 ATP World Tour Finals (Round Robin) - #5 Andy Murray vs. #7 Milos Raonic – This was Raonic’s first appearance at the season-ending tournament and it was one to forget. After a straight-sets loss to Roger Federer in his opening match, Raonic would exacerbate a thigh injury in his encounter with Murray – another straight-sets loss. Because of the injury, Raonic would drop out of the tournament to be replaced by Ferrer in the final round-robin match with Nishikori.

WINNER: Murray – 6-3, 7-5

6.2015 Madrid Open (Quarterfinals) - #2 Andy Murray vs. #5 Milos Raonic – Over his career, Murray has never been much of a wizard on clay, but that started to change in 2015. After winning his first-ever clay title in Munich earlier that month, the native of Glasgow continued his rich vein of form in Spain, which wasn’t good news for Raonic. Faster than the Canadian for the duration of the match, Murray broke Raonic at 5-5 and then served to win the match. Only weeks after winning his first clay tournament in his 10-year pro career, Murray would add a second that month and claim Madrid.

WINNER: Murray – 6-4, 7-5

* - The pair were set to meet on two more occasions, but those matches ended in walkovers after withdrawals. Raonic withdrew from the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami that gave Murray free passage to the Round of 16, while Raonic reached the quarterfinals of the 2012 Rogers Cup in Toronto thanks to Murray’s withdrawal.
