The Ottawa Redblacks have signed former BC Lions defensive back Josh Johnson, who spent the past two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Johnson played eight games for the Jaguars in 2016, recording five tackles and half a sack, before spending last year on the injured reserve.

In 34 games with the Lions, Johnson had 92 tackles, five sacks, and three interceptions.

“To be able to sign a player of Josh’s quality at this stage of the off-season is significant for the Redblacks,” General Manager Marcel Desjardins said in a team release. “He will add experience to our defence while providing leadership and versatility.”
