ASHNBURN, Va. - Redskins rookie linebacker Martrell Spaight is heading to the season-ending injured reserve list.

The move allows the Redskins to reinstate cornerback Chris Culliver to the active roster ahead of Thursday's game against the Giants.

Spaight, a fifth-round draft pick out of Arkansas, sustained a concussion in Washington's season-opening loss against the Miami Dolphins.

Coach Jay Gruden said he believed the team was doing "the right thing" for Spaight's recovery by placing him on IR.

Culliver was suspended for Washington's Week 2 victory over the Rams for a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy.
