WOKING, England - Energized by a restructured driver lineup and a renewed relationship with Honda, McLaren showed off its new Formula One car that the English team expects will restore its fortunes.

The McLaren MP4-30 was launched on Thursday, with chief executive Ron Dennis saying it marks "the start of a lengthy journey" back to "winning grands prix and eventually world championships."

McLaren, which hasn't won a grand prix since 2012, will be using Honda engines for the first time since 1992, and has signed two-time world champion Fernando Alonso to partner Jenson Button for the upcoming season.

"We're prepared for a steep learning curve," said Alonso, who is in his second spell at McLaren after spending a year with the team in 2007, "but it's clear to see that inside McLaren-Honda, there's total commitment, and a real change in feeling, as we start this new partnership."

McLaren was the dominant team in F1 in the late 1980s during its first partnership with Honda.

The team's 2015 car has a refined nose-box solution, slimmed rear-end packaging, and an all-new power unit.

World champion Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg gave Mercedes' car — the F1 W06 Hybrid — a first outing on Thursday, completing 18 laps between them at a promotional event at Silverstone before a blizzard brought filming to a halt.

The car will make its public track debut in Jerez on Sunday.
