The Chicago Bears have released veteran linebacker and former CFL star Jerrell Freeman, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Freeman spent the past two seasons with the Bears after four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. He played just one game last season after suffering a pectoral injury and missed four games his first season in Chicago serving a PED suspension.

The 31-year-old has 415 tackles, 12 sacks, and four interceptions in 70 career games in the NFL.

Freeman got his shot with the Colts after three strong seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was named a CFL All-Star in 2011, the year before signing in the NFL.
