Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert will undergo ankle surgery and could miss the team’s season opener in September as a result, according to a report from the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The report says Eifert could need three months to recover.

Eifert injured his ankle in the Pro Bowl. It was initially not expected to be serious, and Eifert even took part in voluntary workouts with the team last month, but Eifert now has to undergo surgery.
