The Cleveland Browns given up on 2013 first-round pick Barkevious Mingo.

The Browns traded the pass rusher to the New England Patriots for a 2015 fifth-round pick, the team confirmed Thursday.

Mingo, a sixth overall pick, recorded five sacks as a rookie in 2013 but recorded just two the next year and none in 16 games last season.

The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The Browns declined his fifth-year option earlier in the offseason.

He recorded 15 sacks and 29 tackles for a loss in three seasons at LSU.
