Dwyane Wade could reunite with good friend LeBron James, but not in South Beach.
Huffington Post's Jordan Schultz reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers have started preliminary talks with the 12-time All-Star to bring Wade to the NBA Champions.
A three-time NBA Champion, Wade has spent his entire 13 year-career with the Miami Heat after being taken with the fifth-overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft out of Marquette.
Wade and James spent four seasons together with the Heat from 2009 to 2014, winning titles in 2012 and 2013.
The 34-year-old Wade appeared in 74 games for the Heat last season, averaging 19.0 points, 4.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds a night. His 30.5 minutes a game were the fewest in his career.
On Monday, ESPN reported the Heat had offered Wade a two-year, $40 million deal - the same deal given to Dirk Nowitzki by the Dallas Mavericks - to retain his services. Despite the offer, Ramona Shelburne reported that the two sides are "at a bit of an impasse.
Wade was expected to meet with the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, but their meeting has reportedly been cancelled. The BMO Harris Center - the home of the Bucks - is only a few blocks away from Marquette campus.
