The New Jersey Devils will hold a news conference on Tuesday where they are reportedly expected to name John Hynes as their new head coach.

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Hynes is the Devils' choice and the deal is contingent on the Pittsburgh Penguins and Devils agreeing on draft-pick compensation.

Hynes would join the Devils after coaching the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL for the past five years.

The 40-year-old head coach will reunite with general manager Ray Shero. Shero, who hired Hynes as the coach of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, was hired by the Devils earlier this offseason.

The Rhode Island native coached the Baby Penguins to a 231-126-27 across his five seasons with the team. The team reached the playoffs in every season with Hynes at the helm.
