It was another unsettling find for researchers studying the brains of deceased former football players.

Former New York Giants safety Tyler Sash had an extraordinarily high level of CTE found in his brain when he died last year, according to a report from The New York Times.

Sash died last year in September at the age of 27 due to an accidental overdose of painkillers. His family donated his brain to Boston University and the Concussion Legacy Foundation, one of the leading researchers of chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

Sash played two years for the Giants, reportedly suffering several concussions during that time.

The Times reported that Sash dealt with confusion, memory loss and minor fits of temper before he died.
