The East Division leading Hamilton Tiger-Cats could be on the verge of making a big splash on the free agent market.

According to Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press, free agent Canadian linebacker Henoc Muamba will visit Hamilton on Saturday and might ink a deal in the near future, but nothing is imminent. He will get a tour of the facilities and meet the coaching staff.

Muamba, who moved to Canada at a young age and went to school at St. Francis Xavier University, was selected by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with the first overall pick in the 2011 CFL Draft.

The 26-year-old native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo played three seasons in Winnipeg from 2011-2013, recording 171 tackles, four sacks and one interception. Muamba was named a CFL East Division All-Star in 2013.

He played the 2014-15 season with the Indianapolis Colts, making six tackles over 13 games. The Colts released Muamba last Saturday.

Lawless said the Bombers are also interested in bringing the linebacker back as well as the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
