As many as eight soccer German professional soccer clubs are looking into creating their own esports divisions, according to a report from media outlet WirtschaftsWoche.

Four-time defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich leads the charge with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hamburger SV, Werder Bremen, FC Ingolstadt, Bayer Leverkusen, FC Cologne and Hertha BC mentioned in the report.

Dutch soccer club AFC Ajax entered the competitive-gaming scene this week by signing five-time FIFA champion Koen “k0entj92” Weijland, while other pro teams Manchester United, FC Schalke 04 and Valencia FC are already testing the waters with signings of their own.

None of the teams have confirmed or denied the report, but Bayern Munich’s digital director Stefan Mennerich said the team is “analyzing the esports sector very closely at the moment.”
