Nathan Horton’s season may be over, and his career appears in jeopardy as well.

According to a report from the Columbus Dispatch, Horton has been diagnosed with degeneration of the lumbar region on his spine, a condition that threatens his career.

“Nathan is a frustrated kid right now,” his agent said according to the report. “This is normally a really easygoing guy, a happy guy, but he’s just so frustrated by all of this.”

Horton signed a seven-year, $37.1 million deal with the Blue Jackets ahead of last season but only played in 35 games that year due to injury.

The report states surgery has neither been scheduled or ruled out for the 29-year-old former first round pick.
