UFC 206 has a new main event and the stakes have been raised for the show on Dec. 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

The former co-main event bout between Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis has been moved to the top spot and the interim featherweight title will now be on the line, the organization announced Saturday during UFC Fight Night Melbourne.

MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani originally reporteded the upgraded main event.

The newly-minted interim title fight is the first domino of reported shuffling in the 145-pound division.

Helwani said current interim champion Jose Aldo will reclaim the featherweight championship he held for more than five years, which means current champion Conor McGregor is expected to be stripped of the belt.

McGregor made history at UFC 205 and became the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion with a second-round TKO of Eddie Alvarez to capture the lightweight title.

McGregor defeated Aldo with a 13-second knockout at UFC 194 to win the featherweight championship. Aldo later defeated Frankie Edgar to capture the interim belt at UFC 200.

Holloway (16-3) comes into the fight on a nine fight win streak while Pettis (19-5) is coming off a win in his featherweight debut over Charles Oliveira.

Daniel Cormier was set to defend his light heavyweight championship against Anthony Johnson in the original main event for UFC 206, however he was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury.

Helwani added that the UFC tried to keep Johnson on the card in a bout against Gegard Mousasi, but the title contender opted to wait for his shot at the belt.
