The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed catcher Luke Maile from the Tampa Bay Rays the team confirmed on Thursday.

Maile was designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday and will join the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in the Jays system.

The 26-year-old appeared in 42 games last season for the Rays and posted a .227 average with a .252 on base percentage.  He hit three home runs and cashed in 15 RBIs.

Maile made his Major League debut with the Rays in 2015, appearing in 15 games that season.

He has also appeared at first base four times in his short MLB career.
