Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock announced on Thursday night that Eric Fehr had surgery on his hand and there is no timeline for his return.

According to TSN's Mark Masters, Babcock suggested that Fehr's recovery time will be measured in weeks.

Fehr blocked a shot with his hand in the third period of Wednesday's game in Columbus, which marked his debut as a Maple Leaf. On trade deadline day, Toronto acquired Fehr from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 31-year-old centre played 52 games for the Penguins this season, netting six goals and five assists.
