Could the Philly boy head home this summer?

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that Toronto Raptors impending free agent point guard Kyle Lowry is interested in playing for his hometown 76ers.

Lowry, 31, was a high school standout at Cardinal Dougherty and then at Villanova where he developed into a first-round pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2007.

The three-time All-Star announced on Tuesday that he intended to opt out of the final year of his four-year, $48 million contract.

On top of being from Philadelphia, Pompey cites Lowry's close relationship with former Raptors general manager and current Sixers president Bryan Colangelo, who acquired Lowry from the Houston Rockets in 2012.

Under the current CBA, the Raptors - as Lowry's current team - can offer the 11-year pro the most money with a five-year, $200 million max deal. The Sixers or any other team can only come in at four years.

On Tuesday, Lowry said that an NBA Championship ring was his paramount goal right now.

In 60 games this season, Lowry averaged 22.4 points and 4.8 assists in 37.4 minutes a night, all career highs.
