Sources have told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Michigan Wolverines will announce on Tuesday that Jim Harbaugh is their new head coach.

Harbaugh and the San Francisco 49ers parted ways on Sunday following a 20-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Schefter tweeted that Michigan, Harbaugh's alma mater, told its biggest boosters that the deal for the coach is done and a press conference is scheduled for Tuesday.

Harbaugh went 49-22-1 as head coach over four seasons in San Francisco and led the 49ers to a 2012 Super Bowl appearance. The team missed the playoffs this season with an 8-8 record.
