Dirk Nowitzki appears to be staying in Dallas.

According to ESPN's Mark Stein, the Mavericks and Nowitzki have agreed to a two-year, $40 million contract.

The 38-year-old took home the league MVP award in 2007 and was named finals MVP during the Mavericks championship run in 2011.

The German native averaged 18.3 points and 6.5 rebounds last year. Nowitzki is the highest scoring European born player in league history and the sixth highest scorer all-time.

Nowitzki has spent his entire 18-year career with Dallas after they selected him with the ninth overall pick in 1998. The Mavericks have made the playoffs in 15 of those 18 years.
