The Green Bay Packers appear ready to stand by Andrew Quarless after his Fourth of July Weekend arrest.

Citing two sources, ESPN reports the Packers plan keep to the tight end as his legal situation unfolds.

Quarless was arrested early Saturday morning in Miami for discharging a firearm twice into the air during a dispute with four women in a parking garage.

According to an affidavit, Quarless and another man fled the scene but were later taken into custody by police and the firearm, registered to the tight end, was found in a nearby plant.

The 26-year-old started 11 games for the Packers last season, catching 29 passes for a career-high 323 yards and three touchdowns. He had been expected to compete with second-year pro Richard Rodgers for the staring tight end spot this season.

The Penn State graduate will now be subject to league discipline under the personal conduct policy.

The Packers released a statement on Sunday stating only that the team was "aware of the matter involving Andrew Quarless and are in the process of gathering more information" and would "withhold further comment."

The Packers drafted tight end Kennard Backman in the sixth round of May's draft.
