Despite speculation Malcolm Butler could be on the move ahead of Thursday’s NFL Draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports it is now highly unlikely the New England Patriots will trade the cornerback.
Butler signed his one-year, $3.91 million tender with the Patriots last week, which means the Patriots can trade him, but Schefter believes Butler will stay with New England through next season.
There was speculation the New Orleans Saints could be targeting Butler, perhaps with the No. 32 pick, which they previously acquired from the Patriots for receiver Brandin Cooks.
ESPN adds that backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will not be moved by the Patriots ahead of the draft either.
