The Toronto Raptors are among a small group of teams trying to procure the services of free-agent Pau Gasol, according to a report by Marc Stein of ESPN.

Gasol most recently opted out of the final year of his three-year deal, worth just over $22 million, that he signed with the Chicago Bulls in 2014.

The 35-year-old averaged 16.2 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 72 games with the Bulls in 2015/16. The team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008, and for the free-agent centre, it marked the second time in three years he hasn’t participated in the postseason.

The Raptors aren’t the only team battling for the 15-year veteran’s services according to Stein. The Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs have also registered interest in Gasol.

His decision could also potentially be influenced by where Kevin Durant decides to sign this offseason.

Since being drafted third overall in the 2001 by the Atlanta Hawks, the Spaniard has averaged 18.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 1055 games. He’s dressed for the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, and Bulls during that span, and won a pair NBA titles with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010.
