Dwight Howard could be on the shelf for a while.

Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Houston Rockets' eight-time All-Star is seeking a second opinion on his swollen knee.

Howard, 29, missed 11 games earlier this season with a strain in the same knee. With a build-up of fluid in the knee, Howard sat out the Rockets' last two games.

In 32 games this season, Howard is averaging 16.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks a night.

Second in the Southwest, two games behind the division-leading Memphis Grizzlies, the Rockets next see action on Friday night in a visit to the Boston Celtics.
