Alexander Nylander will make his NHL debut Monday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs - and his brother, William.

The 19-year-old, who the Sabres recalled from the AHL on Monday, will play right wing on a line with Evan Rodrigues and Marcus Foligno.

Sabres head coach Dan Bylsma said the timing of his brother coming to town played a factor in the Sabres recalling Nylander Monday, as opposed to dressing him in Sunday's game against the New York Islanders.

Nylander was selected eighth overall in last year's draft and owns nine goals and 27 points in 62 games with the AHL's Rochester Americans this season. He wore No. 70 on his helmet in practice Monday.

After Sunday's loss to the New York Islanders, Sabres head coach Dan Bylsma was asked if Nylander would be in the lineup for Monday's game against Toronto. "We'll see," he said with a smile. When pressed, Bylsma explained that he likes to inform his players of lineup decisions before the media.

William Nylander was asked about his younger brother during Toronto's last trip to Buffalo. "I talk to him almost every day," William said on March 25. "He's learning. It's a different league so you take some time to get going there. He's been going up and down and hopefully he can finish the season off well. It's a learning process. Every player has to to go through that stuff. He's learning and it will be a good year for him."

Alexander Nylander will not burn a year off his entry-level contract by playing for the Sabres for the remainder of the season.

He scored 28 goals and added 47 assists in 57 games with the Mississauga Steelheads last season.

The Sabres (32-33-12) have been eliminated from the playoff race and have five games remaining in their season.

Nylander is set to become the eighth member of the 2016 draft class to play in the NHL. Tyson Jost (10th overall) and Clayton Keller (seventh overall) both made their debuts earlier in the week.

William Nylander, 20, was selected eighth overall in the 2014 NHL Draft. He owns 22 goals and 59 points in 76 games with the Maple Leafs this season.
