Drew Brees missed his first game with the New Orleans Saints due to injury Sunday, but doesn’t plan to miss anymore.

“I plan to and expect to start on Sunday but if I don't we're in good hands with Luke (McCown)," Brees told New Orleans’ TV station Cox Sports Television.

Brees bruised the rotator cuff of his right shoulder in the Saints’ Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

To be fair, Brees was saying the same thing last week and NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport has already reported Brees is a long shot to play next week.

ESPN’s Ed Werder reported Monday Brees was evaluated by Dr. James Andrews and the results came back very positive but the QB’s status is still day-to-day.
