The Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens will meet an outdoor game next season, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

According to Garrioch, the matchup will be announced Friday and take place on Dec. 17 at TD Place.

The game will take place three weeks after the 105th Grey Cup and temporary seating will be left in place to boost capacity to 34,000.

Plans for an outdoor game on Parliament Hill were nixed by the Heritage Ministry in November.

The Canadiens have played in three outdoors games in their history, most recently against the Boston Bruins in Foxborough in 2016.

The Senators appeared in the 2014 Heritage Classic at BC Place Stadium.
