Arian Foster could be undergoing surgery to repair a groin injury suffered in Houston Texans' training camp earlier this week.

According a report from ESPN's Tania Ganguli, the running back is tentatively scheduled for surgery next week, but will get a second opinion from a sports hernia expert in Philadelphia on Friday.

Multiple reports suggest Foster will be a candidate for Injured Reserve with a designation for return. If that were the case, Foster wouldn't be able to practice for six weeks into the season and couldn't suit up and play for eight weeks.

Foster missed three games last season and eight the year before. When healthy, the 28-year-old is a big part of the Texans' offence. In 72 career games, Foster has 6,309 yards and 53 touchdowns.
