Brendan F. Quinn of MLive.com reports that details surrounding the arrest are unknown and a police spokesperson offered limited clarification.

“The police department is not confirming any arrest with that name,” Lt. Scott Wrigglesworth of the East Lansing police department told Quinn. “What I can confirm is that we did arrest a current NBA basketball player this weekend and he was arrested for assault. That’s all we’re confirming right now.”

A native of nearby Saginaw, the 26-year-old Green attended Michigan State University for four years before being taken in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Warriors.

An All-Star this past season, Green was a key member of a Warriors team that captured the NBA title in 2015 and returned to the NBA Finals in June. He is scheduled to play for the United States at next month's Summer Olympics in Rio.

The Warriors released a statement on Green's arrest early on Monday afternoon.
