The LA Galaxy could be on the verge of landing another superstar.

ESPN FC reports the Major League Soccer side is in talks with outgoing Paris St-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 34-year-old Sweden international has also been linked to Manchester United and a move back to former club AC Milan in recent weeks. Ibrahimovic will leave the Ligue 1 champions as the team's all-time leading scorer with 152 goals in 178 matches since signing with the club in 2012.

The issue for the Galaxy right now could be the MLS' designated-player rule. A team is only permitted to have three DPs and their quota is already filled in Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Giovani Dos Santos. Midfielder Nigel De Jong was expected to take Gerrard's slot as a DP upon the expiry of the former Liverpool captain's deal in December.

There is the possiblity that the Galaxy could sign Ibrahimovic and then loan him out to a European side until the 2017 MLS season.

Ibrahimovic will represent Sweden in France at next month's Euro.
