UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will defend her gold against undefeated challenger Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 195, January 2nd at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Rousey, who is also undefeated at 12-0, made the announcement Friday morning on Good Morning America.

The 28-year-old champion is coming off her sixth successful defence of her UFC title, a :34 knockout victory over previously undefeated Bethe Correia in the main event of UFC 190 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Holm, who is an 18-time boxing world champion and holds an unblemished 9-0 MMA record, earned a unanimous decision victory over Marion Reneau in her last bout at UFC Fight Night San Diego.

The 33-year-old is 2-0 since joining the promotion after also winning her debut by split decision over Raquel Pennington at UFC 184.

After beating Jessica Eye at UFC on Fox 16, it was expected that Miesha Tate, who has previously lost to Rousey twice, would be next in line for a title shot.

On Friday afternoon Tate released a statement on Instagram expressing her disappointment in not getting the title shot.

"I am extremely disappointed how all the events unfolded this morning regarding news that I will not be fighting Ronda Rousey." Tate posted on Instagram. "I was told after my last win that I had earned the title shot. I've already begun training for Rousey and I was shocked to hear the announcement this morning."
