MILAN, Italy -- Italy veteran lock Marco Bortolami will be out for more than six months after undergoing surgery on his shoulder last month, meaning he'll miss the Six Nations tournament.

Italy's 2007 World Cup captain dislocated his left shoulder in the loss to Argentina on June 9 and complications following two previous surgeries meant a third operation was necessary.

The Italian Rugby Federation said Tuesday that Bortolami's shoulder is healing well and that the 32-year-old has started physiotherapy but will be sidelined for an estimated 25 weeks.
