Former NHLer and current assistatant general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins Bill Guerin has interviewed with the Buffalo Sabres for their general manager position.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports Guerin is one of several candidates the Sabres have interviewed, or plan to in the future.

Guerin has been with the Penguins since being hired in 2011 as the team's development coach. He was promoted to assitant general manager in 2014.

The 46-year-old retired in 2010 as a member of the Penguins after 18 seasons in the NHL.

The Sabres fired both general manager Tim Murray and head coach Dan Bylsma last week.
