TORONTO -- Toronto FC is hanging onto young forward Andrew Wiedeman.

In advance of Friday's second stage of the MLS re-entry draft, the 23-year-old American took to Twitter to announce his future.

"Stoked to be heading back to Toronto for another season!" he wrote.

Wiedeman was one of five TFC players available in last Friday's first stage of the re-entry draft. The others were defenders Adrian Cann, Jeremy Hall, Ty Harden and midfielder Eric Avila.

Only Avila, Cann and Harden were listed on the second stage list, however.

That meant Hall had either signed with Toronto, signed and been traded, or opted out to continue negotiations with TFC.

Maicon Santos, a striker who was with D.C. United last season, was the only player taken in the first stage of the draft. He went to the Chicago Fire.

Wiedeman joined Toronto in the July deal that sent designated player Julian de Guzman to FC Dallas in a salary dump.

Wiedeman had two goals in 15 games (seven starts) for Toronto.

Toronto has the first pick in the second stage of the draft. Montreal picks eighth and Vancouver 10th.

Teams have seven days to make an offer to players taken in the second stage. If an agreement can't be reached, the club has the right of first refusal for that player in MLS.

Clubs may pick their own players in the second stage draft if other clubs have ignored them.

Players not selected are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
