TORONTO -- Former Canadian international goalkeeper Pat Onstad is joining Toronto FC as chief scout and manager of football partnerships.

The 44-year-old Vancouver native has spent the past two seasons on D.C. United's staff as an assistant coach.

Onstad came out of retirement in 2011 to play in three matches for the club due to injuries at the goalkeeper position.

In addition to his duties as chief scout for Toronto FC, he will be responsible for managing relationships with Major League Soccer teams and international clubs.

Onstad won three MLS Cup championships as a player and earned 57 caps on the Canadian men's team.
