COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids say they've received a first-round 2015 MLS SuperDraft pick, allocation money and a contract buyout from FC Dallas as compensation for coach Oscar Pareja's leaving to take the same job with his former club.
Pareja leaves the Rapids two years into a four-year deal. He was 25-30-13 and helped the club reach the playoffs last season.
The Rapids are now looking for a new coach less than a week before the MLS draft where they hold the 11th overall selection.
Pareja, of Medellin, Colombia, spent eight seasons in Dallas as a player and six as an assistant coach before joining the Rapids in 2012.
