The Vancouver Whitecaps rounded out Carl Robinson's technical staff by appointing Martyn Pert as the club's new assistant coach.
Pert has formerly spent time as an assistant coach with Cardiff City, Coventry City, and Bahrain men's national team.
"Martyn is a highly-respected coach with experience at the top levels in England," said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. "His knowledge of the game, both tactically and technically, is fantastic and he also brings an expertise in sports science. Martyn will play a major role in the day-to-day activities of the first team and we are thrilled to have him onboard."
The 36-year-old native of Norfolk, England helped Bahrain win two tournaments, the 2011 Arab Games and the 2011 Gulf Cooperation Council Games, the first time Bahrain's national team had won a regional competition.
He was also responsible for player recruitment, opposition scouting, planning and implementation of team training sessions, as well as match-day tactics and strategy while he was at Cardiff.
