PARIS -- Brazilian striker Eduardo scored twice Saturday to help second-division Guingamp rally past Rennes 2-1 in the French Cup final for its first title in club history.
Guingamp became the first second-division club since Le Havre in 1959 to win the cup trophy.
Eduardo scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute, collecting a pass from Lionel Mathis to fire in a low shot from 10 yards.
Rennes took the lead in the 69th with a header from United States defender Carlos Bocanegra from a free kick by Bruno Cheyrou. But Guingamp equalized three minutes later as Eduardo pounced on a poor clearance from Rennes defender Petter Hansson to shoot past goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez.
Rennes hit the bar twice before the opener. Midfielder Jerome Leroy first struck the frame in the 40th with a half volley from 23 yards, and forward Moussa Sow then did the same with a shot from 15 yards after beating the offside trap in the 52nd to collect a back heel pass from Leroy.
Guingamp is in 13th place in the second division, while Rennes is seventh in the French top-tier league and still chasing a European spot.
