Iceland crushed the hopes of Denmark with a surprising 3-1 victory on Saturday that knocked the host Danes out of the UEFA Under-21 European soccer championship.
The other Group A match on Saturday saw Switzerland defeat Belarus 3-0. Switzerland clinched the group with a perfect record and nine points, while Belarus advanced on head-to-head goal differential after Iceland's victory.
It was a shocking result for Denmark, who needed to win or tie to guarantee a spot in the next round.
For Iceland, who scored 48 goals during qualifying, the trio of goals marked their first of the tournament. Had Iceland won by three goals, they would have advanced instead of Belarus on the strength of a better head-to-head goal differential.
Switzerland, as group winner, will face the second-place finisher from Group B in one semi-final. Belarus will play the Group B winner in the other.
Group B will be decided on Sunday when Ukraine plays Spain (TSN2, 6pm et/3pm pt), and England faces the Czech Republic (TSN, 8pm et/5pm pt).
