The Montreal Impact came to terms with Quebec goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau on a pro contract on Tuesday.

Crépeau has become the fourth Academy product to officially join the first team in MLS, following Karl W. Ouimette, Maxim Tissot and Wandrille Lefèvre.

The 18-year-old Candiac native (Montreal - South Shore) becomes the youngest player to join the Impact in MLS. He took part in the preseason camp with the club as well as the postseason tour in Italy last November, playing all 90 minutes in the team's 4-1 win over ACF Fiorentina's Primavera, while training with the first team on a regular basis.

"We are very proud to announce that Maxime has joined the team as our third keeper," said sporting director Nick De Santis. "He's shown over his time with us a maturity beyond his years and his performances at the international level have always been good. He has the potential to be a good player in MLS and he will be working with two solid goalkeepers (Troy Perkins and Evan Bush) that will help his development in all technical aspects as well as on how to become a true professional. I also want to congratulate Youssef Dahha for his excellent work with Maxime."

"I am very pleased to be joining the pro team. I hope that this is the beginning of a long adventure," said Crépeau. "It's a dream come true following a lot of hard work. Now, I need to continue to work hard to further my development. I'd like to thank Philippe Eullaffroy, Youssef Dahha, Mauro Biello and all those who believed in me, trained me and helped me grow."

Crépeau joined the Impact Academy in 2010, having played with the U21 team over the last three seasons, while having earned Impact bursaries previously, in 2008 and 2009.

At the international level, Crépeau most recently started all three games for the Canadian U20 team in the CONCACAF U20 championships, in Mexico. He played his first game with the national team at 15.

The Impact now has 26 players on its roster for the 2013 season in MLS.
