BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Defender Hunter Jumper scored the lone goal to lead the Chicago Fire to a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer on Friday.
The Fire's win was their third in their past four matches and moved them 34 points in the Eastern Conference, five points behind Sporting K.C. and joint conference leader New York.
Jumper, in only his second appearance of the season, found his way into the box and headed a pass from Mike Magee past Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen while on his knees in the 13th minute.
Hunter was about a foot off the ground when he scored.
