LONDON -- Chelsea says midfielder Willian will join the Premier League club if the Brazilian receives a British work permit.
The London club announced on Sunday that a transfer agreement has been struck with both Willian and Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala.
Anzhi has sold the 25-year-old Willian just eight months after signing him from Shakhtar Donetsk as part of cost-cutting moves by the previously big-spending club.
The former Corinthians player had been poised to join Tottenham until Chelsea outmanoeuvred its London rival to sign him. Willian's work permit hearing will be on Wednesday.
Chelsea is also being linked with signing another player from Anzhi: Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o.
