BERLIN -- Hertha Berlin came from behind to defeat Werder Bremen 3-2 and move provisionally sixth in the Bundesliga on Friday.

Hertha striker Adrian Ramos scored twice in nine minutes to cancel out Nils Petersen's 15th-minute opening strike, set up by Aaron Hunt on his 200th Bundesliga appearance.

Bremen defender Theodor Gebre Selassie bundled Per Skjelbred over in the 17th and Ramos duly equalized from the penalty spot, before Skjelbred played the Hertha striker through to score again from a narrow angle.

Hunt equalized four minutes after that, with Peterson returning the favour from earlier to set the Bremen captain up.

Crowd favourite Ronny made it 3-2 three minutes into the second half, tucking away what proved to be the winner from a rebound after Raphael Wolf saved Peter Pekarik's initial header.

"We found it very hard to get into the game. Of course Bremen have their offensive qualities, but we weren't proactive enough," said Hertha coach Jos Luhukay after his 50th Bundesliga game. "We had to fight right to the end."

Hertha cleared the ball off the line after Hunt's late free kick slipped through Thomas Kraft's fingers onto the post to hold on for the promoted side's seventh win from 16 games.

Bremen, which lost 7-0 to Bayern Munich last weekend, hasn't won in five games and remains 14th before the rest of the 16th round.

"We're simply not learning from our mistakes. Week after week it's the same (expletive)," Hunt said. "You just can't play like that. We're in the middle of a relegation battle."
