FRANKFURT, Germany -- Borussia Moenchengladbach drew 2-2 with Wolfsburg on Sunday to move past Borussia Dortmund into third place in the Bundesliga.

Moenchengladbach dropped its first points at home this season but still moved into third, one point ahead of Dortmund, which lost 2-1 to Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Wolfsburg, which got a late equalizer from substitute Bas Dost, is now two points behind Dortmund in fifth and is undefeated in nine games.

Diego connected with a low cross to slot home for Wolfsburg in the 53rd. Raffael broke through on the right to score inside the far post in the 59th and Juan Arango then scored a spectacular goal in the 64th.

Arango curled a left-foot shot into the upper corner from about 27 metres (yards) over the wall for Borussia to take the lead. But Dost used a deflected clearance to equalize from close range.

"We lost the ball and didn't get back quickly enough," Moenchengladbach's coach Lucien Favre said. "It was unnecessary to concede the late goal, it's a pity, but we've had a good season so far."

This was the last match before the winter break.

Defending champion Bayern Munich, which won the Club World Cup on Saturday, will spend the break atop the standings, seven points ahead of Leverkusen. Leverkusen also lost on Saturday, 1-0 at Werder Bremen. Leverkusen is four points ahead of Moenchengladbach.
