Toronto FC acquires U.S. international Bradley from Roma

Toronto FC's acquisition of AS Roma and U.S. international midfielder Michael Bradley is complete.

AS Roma announced the sale of Bradley to Major League Soccer for $10 million on its website Thursday.

After Roma defeated Sampdoria in an Italian Cup match on Thursday, coach Rudi Garcia confirmed that Bradley is no longer with the club.

"Bradley wanted to go, we couldn't keep the player," said Garcia. "He did very well with me in these months but I understand he wants to play more."

ESPN FC is speculating that the deal is in the the five- to six-year range with an annual salary of about $6.5 million.

The 26-year-old Bradley played for the U.S. national team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and has also played for MetroStars in the MLS as well as Heerenveen, Borussia Monchengladbach and Chievo Verona.

Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke and Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko have also added designated player Gilberto from Brazil as well as Jermain Defoe from Tottenham Hotspur this winter as they attempt to remake a franchise that has not qualified for the playoffs during its seven-season existence.
